Lord Of The Mountains Lutheran Church, ELCA

Charitable Endowment Fund

We recently received a thank you phone call from Monica, a paralegal with the Southern Poverty Law Center at the Stewart Immigration Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, who said: “Thanks to LOTM for your support of our work at Stewart, to provide basic legal services to people locked in a maximum security prison who are waiting for a hearing on their request to seek political asylum in the U.S. We couldn’t do our work without the support of folks like you.”

The charitable endowment fund was created in 1994 with a generous gift of $120,000. The purpose of the endowment fund is to provide for mission work beyond the operational budget of our congregation.  Grants are provided to 501(c)(3) and other recognized local, national and international charitable organizations. Through the Charitable Endowment Fund, Lord of the Mountains has assisted many organizations, including Summit County Schools Suicide Prevention Program, LOTM Camp Compassion Scholarships, Father Dyer Church's medical mission, Community Dinner, Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp and Lutheran World Relief. Over the 25 years of its existence, over $135,000 in donations have been made.

The six-member board is elected at the annual congregational meeting for staggered three-year terms. If you are a member of LOTM and you would like to volunteer to be on the board, please contact the church administrator at 970-468-6809 or by email.
